This is the first announcement from a serious player in telecom sector since Supreme Court quashed 122 licenses. Uninor, the telecom service of Telenor is closing down services at Kolkata and WB w.e.f. 00: IST 19th January 2013. The official statement goes below, as seen on Uninor.in :
Well the notice does not mention West Bengal circle, but we can assume that the closure notice is also applicable for WB also. Also this notice is not served to Mumbai though there Uninor has to stop services w.e.f 19.01.2013. I guess there might be something boiling between Loop Mobile and Telenor.

If ICRA on 3G can not be stopped by our telecom watchdog, I am damn sure that ICRA on 2G also be carried on, if Uninor is a big player.
