After a long time I am able to write down my thoughts regarding this 2G mess/scam! These are the stuffs I feel those were done wrongfully!
Apart from these 2G mess there are some problems of telecom which have to be taken of as soon as possible. Because spectrum is scarce.
• Spectrum allocated at the rate of 2001
• Wrong Doer: Everyone in the government – PMO, PM, FM, TM
• Solution: Ask the telcos to pay according to inflation
• Some applicants got the spectrum showing false information
• Wrong Doer: Swan, Unitech
• Solution: Revoke their licenses + penalty
• Raja changed the last date of application submission
• Wrong Doer: Raja himself
• Solution: Already done- Raja was arrested
• Raja manipulated the allocation of spectrum to favour some companies
• Wrong Doer: Raja + those companies – Rcom + Swan(Etisalat DB, brandname Cheers Mobile)
• Solution: Raja is in custody + Prove this companies guilty and fine hefty amount
Other stuffs of telecom which are not taken care of:
- Fine for late rollout – most of new players are late to roll out due to various reasons. STel still did not able to roll out 3G services in 3 circles where it has 3G spectrum
- Spectrum overlap between Idea and Spice
- Excess spectrum hold by incumbent operators
- 3G Roaming via ICRA between Airtel, Vodafone and Idea.
