BSNL Mobile CDMA is Already in Town

If you check Telecomtalk's mobile codes page, you will find BSNL Mobile CDMA. The fact is BSNL was offering voice over CDMA via Fixed Wireless Phone (FWP)/Wireless Landline (WLL) with 8 digit no. BSNL has started its CDMA Mobile services in circles silently.

In Kolkata BSNL is offering Mobile services on CDMA for some time. But almost zero advertisement (except from the ones in BSNL Exchanges) makes people not aware of it.

New BSNL prepaid CDMA Mobile connection comes at just Rs 20. The RUIM comes with preloaded Rs 20 talktime in main account and 30 days validity and grace period of 15 days after the 30 days. 1X data services is also pre-activated on the mobile no.

Balance can be checked by dialing 123. The PIN of the RUIM will also be SMSed when you put it on a device (mobile/modem).

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Is the RUIM of OMH technology?

I am not sure about it. Because when the RUIM is put on my OMH handset Samsung F219 there was no message during booting about upgrading the RUIM, which is generally showed up with non-OMH RUIM. But the BSNL-BREW and UIM-Toolkit both are disabled, and shows the message of upgrading RUIM to obtain data services when I clicked on BSNL-BREW. One explanation from my side: BSNL launched CDMA mobile services but did not develop BREW platform for its CDMA mobile customers.

2. What does it cost? What is the tariff of BSNL CDMA?

BSNL Prepaid CDMA RUIM comes at Rs 20. It includes Rs 20 talktime in main balance and validity of 30 days, with grace period of 15 days. To get 6 months validity you have to recharge Rs 110, and for 1 year validity Rs 221 is to be recharged.

BSNL CDMA to other local 90p/min
BSNL CDMA to SMS 60p/min
Data charge 5p/100kB [on 1X].

BSNL does activate data on CDMA RUIM, but only with 1X. They told me that EVDO is only activated on voice-disabled RUIMs to be used on data card.

I guess you should better try bsnl online recharge.

otherwise have a visit to bsnl office, ask them how much you have to pay, and is it STV or topup option, next time you can recharge it via paytm or mobikwik
